Singer Denies Death then Dies

A Mexican singer has reportedly been shot to death just hours after publicly denying that he was dead. The singer, known as El Shaka, real name Sergio Vega, was 40 years old when he was shot dead while on tour in Mexico. Hours before he reported to an entertainment website, that previous reports of his death, that had been published on line, were untrue. He explained, on the La Oreja website, that this often happened and he had to keep reassuring fans and his mother that he was, in fact, still alive and had not had an accident or something. It seems that people often reported to newspapers or websites that the popular singer had died and he then had to speak up and explain that this was not the case. He previously explained that he was always especially careful to phone his mother whenever he heard a report of his death because she has a heart condition and he did not want her to be unnecessarily worried. However, this time it was only a few hours until he was shot dead and the story unfortunately became true.

It seems that a gang drove up to his vehicle and open fired with automatic weapons. The singer was speeding along in his vehicle when they came alongside in a white truck. Despite the increased security measures that he had taken up, as he was aware that he could be a target, it was not enough to protect him. It is felt that he was targeted because his songs contain references to drug barons, celebrating their lives. Recently many singers in Mexico doing this type of material have become the target of rival drug gangs which is why he stepped up his own security measures but unfortunately to no avail.

His fans have been posting message of condolence on his twitter site.
