Girl hero Wonder Woman has at last stopped wearing the same outfit that she has donned for 60 years and had a modern new look. Wonder Woman is a comic strip character, an Amazon who is the alter ego of Princess Diana of Themyscira and has many powers. In issue number 600 of the comic book series she has at last stopped wearing just a swimsuit but now has black leggings with a gold edged, red top and a cropped blue jacket with gold stars on the back. She still has some glam with a necklace, head band and gold gloves which replace her out of date wrist bands and has an updated face and hairstyle and long red finger nails and dark red lipstick. She looks feminine, tough and has a body shape that many women would envy.

This is not her only change. The comic strip has a new author, J Michael Straczynski, is bringing a lot of changes to the character to bring her up to date. He was aiming to make her look tougher and more sensible with a much more modern look. For a character that has superhuman powers and fights many villains, she really needs to look the part and the new look seems to have done the job. It does not seem right for a trough woman to be fighting villains in just a swimsuit and so replacing them with leggings was a wise choice. He is also updating the story lines so that the character fits with her new look and is kept up to date.

The comic strip has been running for 69 years and there were also two television series in the 1970′s and a recent animated film made. It is hoped that the new image and life style will mean that Wonder Woman will remain a popular cartoon character that the modern girl can associate with.
