This week Colin Firth has been quoted as saying that he would like to play a villain, perhaps someone in Doctor Who or Torchwood. He went on to say that he is a much nastier person than people think.
It is very difficult to believe that this is true. The fifty year old actor, always comes of across as a true English gentleman. He rose to fame after his portrayal of ‘Mr D’Arcy’ in a BBC drama Pride and Prejudice, where he was famously seen walking from a did in a fountain, with his shirt wet and see through. This scene made many people notice his good looks and has since had many film roles such as in ‘The King’s Speech’, ‘The English Patient’, Bridget Jones Diary’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and ‘Love Actually’. His early film career success had him named as one of the ‘Brit Pack’ in the early nineties among such names as Gary Oldman and Paul McGann.
Firth was married in 1989 to actress Meg Tilly and they have a some William. They separated after five years and he was linked to Jennifer Ehle for a while and then married Livia Giuggioli who is a film director and they have sons Luca and Matteo.
Firth’s image has been very much a positive one, certainly aided by his good looks. However, he has also been involved with various charities including one to stop certain asylum seekers being deported as they faced death on their return to their home nation. He has also been supporting Survival International for a very long time and has been involved with Oxfam and started a political activism website.
It can be hard to imagine that he is not a good person, perhaps he was just being very modest. It is not surprising that he would like a nasty role to get his teeth in to though as many of his parts, although he may play a grumpy character, are always good guys. Sadly it tends to be how you look, that decides on the part and when you have a face like Firth’s then surely no one will be convinced that you are bad. However, Dr Who and Torchwood do have great make-up departments, but it would be a shame to see him covered up in a role as an alien!
Having been nominated for many acting awards for various roles in his career it is surprising that it is only ‘The King’s Speech’ that has brought him massive acclaim, although he won some awards for his portrayal of George Falconer in ‘A Single Man’. ‘The Kings Speech’ has already brought him many awards including a Golden Globe for best actor in a Motion Picture Drama as well as a nomination for an Academy Award for best actor which has not yet been chosen. It could be argued that he has reached a great point in his career where he now has international acclaim for a role and should therefore attract many more interesting parts in the future.

Red Nose Day has just started its advertising campaign and many starts have come out to promote the cause. This year the event is taking place on 18th March and traditionally has a long evening television show where many stars perform comedy sketches to encourage watches to dinate money to the cause.
Lara Stone has been names as the new face of the campaign. Her amazing photo shoot involved her dressing up Marilyn Monroe style with a breeze blowing under a white dress. Of course, there was a twist for red nose day as lots of red noses were surrounding her. Other stars joining her in the campaign are singers Alesha Dixon and Alexandra Burke. Also involved is her husband, David Walliams, John Cleese, Amanda Holden, and David Tennant
Lara Stone is Dutch supermodel and has appeared on the Catwalk for many famous fashion houses as well as appearing in many advertising campaigns for various beauty and clothing products. Her looks, blonde hair and a gap between her top front teeth have meant that there is an increase in popularity for models with this particular look. She married David Walliams, the UK comedian in 2010. They had a lavish ceremony at Claridge’s hotel and many stars attended. The best man was Matt Lucas, David’s long term comedy partner and he made a moving speech. Also attending were Johnathan Ross, Alan Carr, Natalie Imbruglia, Ronnie Corbett and Barbara Windsor. The supermodel wore a £10,000 Givenchy dress.
Red Nose Day was launched in 1985 by Richard Curtis and Alexander Mendis and is hosted on the BBC every two years. There are usually a selection of well known faces hosting the event during the evening. Often comedy stars with well known presenters. The 2011 show will consist of many things including special episodes of Eastenders and Miranda, a performance by Boyzone and a series of ‘Lets Dance for Comic Relief’ where celebrities are asked to perform a dance and get vote sby telephone (from which the money raised go towards the charity). There will be a single released to raise funds and Walkers crisps have released new flavours to help raise money.
Anyone wanting to support the Comic Relief cause can buy one of three ‘monster’ red noses from Sainbury’s or Oxfam or choose from a selection of other merchandise. TK Max will also be selling a range of clothing. Of course direct donations can also be mad via the website or through banks and buildings societies. One of the big principles of the charity is that all of the money donated goes towards the charity, there are no running costs paid for from it, these are all covered by corporate sponsors or interest on donations waiting to be distributed. The charity has so far raised over £600 million which it donates to many good cause in the UK and abroad.
The charity was so successful that it launched another biannual event, ‘Sport Relief’ which runs alternate years to the Red Nose Day Events. Red Nose Day tries to raise money from comedy whereas Sport Relief raises money for the same charities but by encouraging people to do sporting events.

Dannii Minogue has been spotted out and about wearing a necklace with the letter ‘E’ on it. It has got people talking about who that is for.
However, as she was recently seen with Kris Smith, then it is probably for their baby boy ‘Ethan’. Ethan Edward Smith was born on 5th July 2010, giving Dannii just enough time to get back in to shape before appearing as a judge on the UK’s X-Factor. She got back in to the role very well as one of her contestants, Matt Cardle, ended up winning the show. She was very proud, but not as much as she was of her lovely son.
Dannii has been going out with Kris Smith since 2008 and having a baby was a natural step for the happy couple.
Dannii has managed to get back to her slim look very quickly after having her baby. However, she was not always that skinny. In the days when she was acting in the soap ‘Home and Away’ she was often told she was fat. Of course, she was nothing of the sort, maybe a bit more round in the face and curvier but she always had a lovely flat stomach when she wore bikinis on the set. She did seem to suddenly transform with more chiselled cheek bones and slimmer looking neck and these seem to appear when she started sweeping her hair back and it certainly suited her.
She has spoken out about her weight, explaining that she had a school friend with anorexia, who almost died in hospital and she always vowed that she did not want that to happen to her. She also admits that she was always happy with how she looked, even when the press were saying that she was too big, What a fantastic attitude to have and from the outfits that she has chosen over the years, which show her body off perfectly, it was obvious they she never felt the need to cover up. It is obvious that she works out a lot more these days, but she has always looked good and been able to carry off almost every type of outfit. She seems to share her sister’s eye for style and with the support that they always give each other, it is no wonder that she has so much body confidence. To have a sister who was often considered to be more successful, must have been difficult for her and the temptation to slim down could have been there for others in that situation.
It is great that we can have someone to look up to who is so beautiful, curvy and slim but not afraid to speak out about her body and the fact that she has had a baby and still looks fabulous can give us all hope! However, many of us are probably a bit jealous of how quickly she did get back in to shape when it can take years (or maybe forever) to shift that baby weight!

A friend of pop star Robbie Williams has told ‘The Sun’ newspaper that he is living in a haunted house.
Robbie shares the Hollywood mansion with his wife Ayda Field and is not at all worried about the ghostly presence. Their dogs can see him and they even have the nickname ‘Bertie’ for him. They have said that it is a man from the 20th century and Robbie likes to imagine him wearing a suit and holding a Martini glass.
It seems that the couple are very close to their eight dogs, who all attended their August wedding in the places of bridesmaids. The wedding was kept a secret, although there were rumours about it in the press a few days before it happened. They had some very untraditional things happen at the ceremony and leading up to the wedding, with no parties beforehand and a fantastic cake with three different flavours so everyone was happy. They even served a fried breakfast at 1am while everyone was enjoying the party. Robbie reportedly said that he wanted everyone to have so much cake that they would have a cake hangover. The couple married at Robbies mansion in LA on Saturday 7th August with just 40 guests including Robbies friend Jonathan Wilkes as best man, it was certainly an intimate do. They did not miss out on an opportunity to cash in though, as they sold exclusive rights to pictures to OK magazine.
It is good to hear a more light hearted story about Robbie Williams, although since getting married and back together with ‘Take That’ things seem to be looking up for the singer. Even his Father was pleased, telling ‘News of the World’ that he is so pleased that his son is happy at last as that was all he ever really wanted for his children and that he had never seen him happier.
He has had a difficult personal life with his drug and alcohol addiction being no secret. He has publicly spoken about his stage fright and how that can lead him to going off the wagon and then having to check back in to rehab. Despite a very successful career he always seemed troubles. He does admit that his wife is very good for him and that she has made him a much better person. With the ‘Take That’ tour due to start in the summer, lets hope that his wife can give him some help in keeping out of trouble while he is travelling. With his fellow band mates often landing themselves in trouble as well, hopefully they will work hard to look after each other and stay on track this time.
Most recently it has been Mark Owen, who is in strive after admitting that he has had a lot of affairs during his marriage due to his alcohol problems. Luckily he was recently photographed on holiday with his wife and they looked close and happy. With two pre-school aged children, lets hope that they can make things work and keep the family together.

Liz Hurley has had an interesting love life of late and now it has been revealed that she has begged her husband to take her back, after being seen with another man.
Liz, split up with her husband, Arun Nayar, following allegations that she was having an affair with Shane Warne, the cricketer. They had been seen out and about together a lot, just after they both announced splitting up with their spouses. However, it seems that Shane was not being honest with Liz and was sending texts to another woman, Adele Angeleri. It seems that he sent her over a hundred provocative messages, telling her what he would like to do with her and such like, during the time that him and Liz Hurley were seeing each other. It was reported that when Liz found out what was going on, she dumped him.
Shane Warne has been in trouble in the past for sending erotic text messages. He allegedly sent them to a women while on a tour of South Africa, although these claims were not held. In 2000 he was no longer allowed to be vice captain of the Australian team because he send a nurse text messages which were erotic. He was also caught smoking when he was being sponsored by a nicotine patch company, which probably also added to him being discredited. His then separated from his wife in 2005 but tried to get back together with her in 2007, but soon after he accidentally sent his wife a text message meant for another woman and that ended it. It was in 2010 when he announced their separation, after the press had started publishing photographs of him together with Liz Hurley.
‘The Sun’ newspaper has been told that Liz now wants to try to get back together with her husband. They reported that she has phoned him to apologise but he is not interested in them getting back together again. This is not really surprising since he has been seen out and about with a mystery brunette. Things may have seemed innocent, not all liaisons between men and women mean anything. But when the pair realised that they had been spotted by the paparazzi, she quickly disappeared in to a taxi. He then drove off as well, making it look like they were trying to hide something. They certainly know how to raise suspicions.
Liz keeps herself very busy these days, with her swimwear range, her snack food bars and of course her son. She started her career as an actress and then did some modelling, she has more recently worked as a television presenter but these days seems to be concentrating more on her businesses. She launched her health bars to try to help women with weight loss and says that she eats one herself every day to help keep herself in trim. She has also spoken about extending her swim war collection to include larger pieces such as dresses. These business expansions will certainly take up a lot of her time. Of course, she is still always in the public eye and so any meetings that she has with men are bound to be noticed by someone.
